Matt’s 5K Pursuit

Every April, we remember Matt Haverkamp during the month of his birthday and support Matt’s legacy with a 5K run / walk. Matt’s 5K Pursuit is held on the beautiful grounds of Spring Grove Cemetery – the perfect setting for quiet reflection and bringing together so many people in remembrance of Matt. All proceeds from Matt’s 5K Pursuit benefit The Matt Haverkamp Foundation, which helps support local police departments in and around the greater Cincinnati area by purchasing K9s and law enforcement equipment for them.
This year will mark the EIGHTEENTH year for the annual Matt’s 5K Pursuit. This year’s 5K will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Spring Grove Cemetery. The race will begin at 9:00 AM with sign-in and T-shirt and race bib pick up beforehand from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM. After the 5K, stay with us throughout the morning for K9 demonstrations, refreshments, a silent auction, and the presentation of awards to the top chip-timed finishers. Awards for Race Runners will be presented to the top 3 men and top 3 women in each division. Awards for Race Walkers will be presented to the top 3 men and women overall. No awards will be presented to non Fun Walkers or Virtual Participants.

REGISTRATION
• Pre-registration to participate in Matt’s 5K Pursuit as a chip-timed Race Runner or Race Walker is $30 and includes a T-shirt.
• Pre-registration to participate in the Fun Walk (not chip-timed) or as a Virtual Participant is $27 and includes a T-shirt.
• Pre-registration to participate in the Kids’ Fun Run is $10 and includes a T-shirt.
Pre-registration prices are good through April 2, 2022. After that, there will be a late fee of $5 per person.
Register for Matt’s 5K Pursuit and the Kids’ Fun Run as well as become an event sponsor, mile marker sponsor, and/or make a personal donation online by visiting our RunSignUp page or downloading the Matt’s 5K Pursuit form and mailing it in along with your payment.
We accept payments by cash, check, and credit card. Payments made by credit card will incur a processing fee.

• The course for Matt’s 5K Pursuit can be viewed through MapMyRun.
• You can download the MapMyRun app for iPhone and Android.
• You can also download a course map for Spring Grove Cemetery that you can save and print.
KIDS’ FUN RUN
The Kids’ Fun Run is open to all kids ages 10 or younger and will begin after the Matt’s 5K Pursuit. All registered kids will receive a T-shirt, fun freebies, and chances to win cool prizes.

Please join us for our 18th annual ‘Matt’s 5k Pursuit’ on Sunday, April 16th. Your participation in this year’s race would be greatly appreciated. We will also offer a virtual option. Virtual will have to upload your time by April 15th to be considered for a medal.

All pre-registered will be guaranteed an event t-shirt; late registrants will receive a t-shirt while supplies last. You can pick up your shirt/bib on Thursday, April 13 from 4-7 pm at Queen City Running, 5819 Cheviot Road or on race day before 8:30 a.m.
Pre-registration closes April 2. After that, you can still register online from April 3 to April 10 and on race day until 8:30 a.m. but a late fee of $5 per person will be added.

The Foundation is proud to have been able to purchase 93 K9’s for area police departments over the past 17 years. In 2022 we assisted eight police departments by funding seven narcotics detection/patrol dogs, one explosive detection/patrol canine and five protective vests totaling over $928,968. We have multiple requests for assistance in 2023; your support and participation will help us meet their needs.
