Every April, we remember Matt Haverkamp during the month of his birthday and support Matt’s legacy with a 5K run / walk. Matt’s 5K Pursuit is held on the beautiful grounds of Spring Grove Cemetery – the perfect setting for quiet reflection and bringing together so many people in remembrance of Matt. All proceeds from Matt’s 5K Pursuit benefit The Matt Haverkamp Foundation, which helps support local police departments in and around the greater Cincinnati area by purchasing K9s and law enforcement equipment for them.

This year will mark the NINETEENTH year for the annual Matt’s 5K Pursuit. This year’s 5K will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Spring Grove Cemetery. The race will begin at 9:00 AM with sign-in and T-shirt and race bib pick up beforehand from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM. After the 5K, stay with us throughout the morning for K9 demonstrations, refreshments, a silent auction, and the presentation of awards to the top chip-timed finishers. Awards for Race Runners will be presented to the top 3 men and top 3 women in each division. Awards for Race Walkers will be presented to the top 3 men and women overall. No awards will be presented to non Fun Walkers or Virtual Participants.

REGISTRATION
• Pre-registration to participate in Matt’s 5K Pursuit as a chip-timed Race Runner or Race Walker is $30 and includes a T-shirt.
• Pre-registration to participate in the Fun Walk (not chip-timed) or as a Virtual Participant is $27 and includes a T-shirt.
• Pre-registration to participate in the Kids’ Fun Run is $10 and includes a T-shirt.

Pre-registration prices are good through March 31, 2024. After that, there will be a late fee of $5 per person.

Register for Matt’s 5K Pursuit and the Kids’ Fun Run as well as become an event sponsor, mile marker sponsor, and/or make a personal donation online by visiting our RunSignUp page or downloading the Matt’s 5K Pursuit form and mailing it in along with your payment.

We accept payments by cash, check, and credit card. Payments made by credit card will incur a processing fee.

• ON RACE DAY: At the registration check-in tables from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM

• The course for Matt’s 5K Pursuit can be viewed through MapMyRun.
• You can download the MapMyRun app for iPhone and Android.
• You can also download a course map for Spring Grove Cemetery that you can save and print.

KIDS’ FUN RUN
The Kids’ Fun Run is open to all kids ages 10 or younger and will begin after the Matt’s 5K Pursuit. All registered kids will receive a T-shirt, fun freebies, and chances to win cool prizes.

FROM THE SOUTH (I-75 NORTHBOUND):
• Take I-75 North to Mitchell Avenue (Exit 6) and turn left onto Mitchell Avenue.
• Turn left onto Spring Grove Avenue (at third traffic light) and continue through two traffic lights.
• The Spring Grove Cemetery entrance will be on your the right.

FROM THE NORTH (I-75 SOUTHBOUND):
• Take I-75 South to Mitchell Avenue (Exit 6) and bear right at Mitchell Avenue.
• Turn left onto Spring Grove Avenue (at third traffic light) and continue through two traffic lights.
• The Spring Grove Cemetery entrance will be on your the right.
