SUMMARY:Strides for Safety 5K
DESCRIPTION:Event Location\nWinton Woods\n10245 Winton Rd\nCincinnati\, OH 45231 US \nEvent Description\n\nStrides for Safety is a family-friendly\, timed 5K at Winton Woods organized by Jane Holbrook\, a high school junior living with severe food allergies. The event benefits food allergy awareness and advocacy. \nMore than 1 in 13 children and 1 in 10 adults in the U.S. have a food allergy—over 33 million people. A food-allergic reaction sends someone to the emergency room every three minutes. Funds raised through this event support the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Connection Team (FAACT)\, an organization dedicated to education and advocacy\, while supporting families in Cincinnati and across the country living with life-threatening food allergies. \nThe 3.1-mile course at Winton Woods Park features a scenic lake\, wooded trails\, and beautiful spring views. The event is open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities—families\, kids\, and first-time 5K participants are welcome. \nThanks to our generous sponsors\, the post-race celebration includes music\, raffle baskets\, and allergy-friendly items. Awards will be given to the top three finishers\, along with a special award for the Most Spirited Food Allergy Family. \nJoin us as we turn strides into safety—every step helps protect children and families affected by food allergies! \nSchedule Of Events\n8:30 AM – Race Day Packet Pick-Up & Check-In Opens\n9:45 AM – Pre-Race Announcements & Welcome\n10:00 AM – 5K & 1 Mile Race Begins\n10:45 AM – Post-Race Celebration Begins & Awards Ceremony\n11:30 AM – Raffle Winners Announced & Sponsor Thank-Yous\n12:00 PM – Event Concludes \nAwards\n\nTop 3 Men & Top 3 Women\nTop Family\nMost Spirited Family\n\nThe Story Behind Strides for Safety\n\nMy name is Jane Holbrook\, I’m a high school junior\, I have food allergies and I am the founder of the “Strides for Safety” fundraiser. I truly hope you’ll consider supporting. \nOn April 25\, I will be hosting the Strides for Safety 5K Run/Walk at Winton Woods Park. This event is deeply personal to me. Growing up with severe food allergies to eggs\, peanuts\, and tree nuts\, I’ve learned how critical education\, advocacy\, and community support are.  With hard work\, the support of my family and friends\, and resources like FAACT\, I’ve been able to pursue my goals and thrive as both a student and an athlete. \nI created Strides for Safety to raise awareness and funds for food allergy education\, advocacy\, and research. Proceeds from the event benefit the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Connection Team (FAACT)—a national organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families through education\, advocacy\, summer camps\, and funding critical research. Having participated in FAACT’s summer allergy camp since second grade—and now serving as a camp counselor—I have experienced firsthand the community and support FAACT creates. \nThis 5K is my way of giving back to the organizations and community that have supported me throughout my journey. \nHow You Can Get Involved\n\nRegister to run or walk —Runners\, walkers\, supporters\, families and kids\, all are welcome! It’s a great opportunity to connect with other families and explore helpful resources from our sponsors and FAACT.\nMake a donation to support food allergy education and advocacy\nShare the event with friends\, family\, and coworkers to help spread awareness.\n\nYour support helps advance food allergy education and advocacy for individuals and families affected by food allergies and allows organizations like FAACT to continue their impactful work nationwide. \nThank you so much for your time and support—it truly means a lot to me. \n-Jane
