RAPTOR Inc.’s conservation activities include rescue and rehabilitation of ill and injured birds of prey\, conducting field research at the Raptor Center and at local nesting sites\, collaborating with other like-minded conservation organizations\, and educating the public about the value of these birds to the environment. Your participation in this event helps RAPTOR Inc. purchase essential items such as food\, medications\, medical supplies\, and maintenance equipment necessary to fulfill our mission to conserve our magnificent local birds of prey. \n  \nEach year a different local bird of prey will be featured. A few 2022 medals featuring the image of a Great Horned Owl\, 2023 medals featuring the image of a Peregrine Falcon\, and 2024 medals featuring the image of a turkey vulture will be available for purchase on Race Day.  The 2025 medals and t-shirts will feature the image of a Red-tailed Hawk. \n  \nCheck-In and Registration 7:30am-8:30am\nRace Starts at 9:00am\, Rain or Shine – If the weather is so poor that we need to cancel the run\, we will distribute the goodie bags and conduct the raffle under the park shelter.\n \n  \nCourse: The 5K route will wind through the flat paved trails at beautiful Miami Meadows Park in Milford\, OH. \nRegistrations for adults and youth received by August 30 will include a t-shirt and collectible medal. Registrants after August 30 will receive a t-shirt and collectible medal while supplies last. \n  \nAwards:  The top 3 male and top 3 female runners will receive a one-of-a-kind handmade ceramic mug as a trophy from Whistle Stop Clay Works . The race is being professionally timed and complete race results will be available at TimingSpot.com . \n  \nSleep In/Virtual Option:  If you would prefer to sleep in on race day or run the race virtually\, your registration fee will still support RAPTOR Inc.’s mission. Parking and shuttle service will be provided the shuttle pick up location is next to Union Cemetery in Rising Sun\, on the corner of 1st and Downey St\, Parking on Downey. Follow the signs\, shuttles start at 8:00AM and run every 10-15 minutes. \nThe Red Wolf Sanctuary is once again hosting it’s 5K and 10K Trail Walk/Run\, Across their beautiful\, 452 acre facility in Rising Sun\, Indiana. The event will be timed but recreational runners and walkers are welcome. All proceeds from the event will be used to support the sanctuary and its endeavors to preserve native North American wildlife through environmental education and the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife. \nThe 5K is a beautiful course\, the first couple of miles take you along the waterways\, through wetlands and fields and the final mile takes you down the trail passed the large wildlife enclosures. If runners choose to take on the challenge and continue with the 10K they will at one point run up an over 240 feet in elevation in just under a mile. I wanted to organize this 5K to raise money for the Tourette Association of America because I have Tourette Syndrome\, and I don’t want others to face the same barriers I did growing up with the disorder. I started showing symptoms at the age of 9\, and began to sniffle\, twitch\, and jerk without the ability to stop. As symptoms persisted\, without any explanation\, I began to feel unjustified in myself\, which brought me to see doctor after doctor to figure out what was going on. Despite these symptoms persisting for years\, it wasn’t until I was 13 years old that I got a diagnosis! The feeling of being unjustified in yourself is not something I want others to go through\, but it is sadly a harsh reality for many\, as an estimated 50% of people with Tourette Syndrome go undiagnosed. Additionally\, Tourette Syndrome is not an uncommon disorder\, as an estimated 1.4 million children live with Tourette Syndrome or another Tic Disorder. This is why I am raising money for the largest 501(c)(3) organization for Tourette Syndrome\, the Tourette Association of America\, an organization I’m also a Youth Ambassador for. I want to make a difference in the lives of those with Tourette Syndrome\, and I hope you can help me too. Our race will be timed\, and you can see your results broken down on our race website. \n  \nAfter the Race: \nStarting at 10:30\, we will have a post-race party for you to enjoy! There will be healthy post-race food\, a Tom’s Coffee Truck\, raffle prizes\, music\, and more! We will have some free food items and water for participants at the finish line. \nRegistration:  \nEarly Bird Pricing (Registration purchased before 9/30/25) will be $20 for an adult\, and $18 for anyone 13 and under (youth) or 60 and older (seniors). Kids 3 and under do not need to register. After 9/30/25\, registration prices will be $25 for an adult\, and $20 for those 13 and under or who are 60 and older. If you purchase registration on the day of the race\, it will cost $30 for adults and $22 for children or seniors. \nRegistration is 100% online only from your phone\, tablet or computer including race day. \n  \nReferral Rewards and Referral Challenge: \nOnce you sign up\, send out your referral code to your friends. Refer 5 friends and get them to sign up\, and you get a $10 discount! Not only that\, but we will also be hosting a referral challenge!
