Randy Cox, Mariemont
I have been involved in the Greater Cincinnati running scene since 1974. Born with a leg disorder, I was always the slowest kid around, so at age 13 I started running with hopes of getting faster. Before long, I started seeing amazing physical and mental changes, and became very passionate about the activity that was enabling me to do things I had never done before. From this unlikely start, I went on to compete in track and cross country in high school and college, and followed that with over 30 more years of running.
Even more rewarding than my personal running experience, however, has been the opportunity to help others achieve their goals. I started coaching track at a local junior high school while still in college, and soon realized that my life’s work would be helping runners become the best they could be. With that in mind, I went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology. Since completing graduate school in 1986, I have served as Head Cross Country Coach at Xavier University for 5 years, coached the Earth Drummers Racing Team (sponsored by Tri State Running Co.) since
its inception in 2004, and coached many individuals of all ages and abilities. In addition to my coaching experiences, I have been fortunate to have worked in the running specialty industry for over 22 years, where I have the daily opportunity
promote an active, healthy lifestyle and to help so many people achieve their personal fitness and performance goals.
